• 1988/89: The President of the
Club received the first ever Guyana Youth of the Year Award,
Y.Y.
• 1989: First runner-up in the Caribbean
/ Commonwealth Youth of the Year Award.
• 1990/91: Commonwealth Youth Service
Award Commendation.
• 1992/93: Commonwealth Youth Service
Award. Winning from 36 countries around the world.
• 1994/95: Commonwealth Youth Service
Award. (SFCD became the only Club in the world to ever win
this award more than once).
• 1994 and 96: The President of the Club represented
Guyana at the World Youth Leaders Summit in New York
at the U.N Head Office, as well as the Assembly of Caribbean Youth in
Trinidad and Tobago.
• 1995: The Vice President of the Club, Jeffrey
Amerally won the Guyana Youth of the Year Award, which
has been upgraded to a Medal of Service.
• 1996: The Secretary of the Club, Ms Karen Ann
Nero became the country’s third Youth of the Year
Awardee creating history by ensuring the National Youth Award is a part
of the Club from 1988 to date.
• 1997/98: Karen Nero and Marciana Cummings,
two members of the Club, became the first two Guyanese to acquire Scholarships
for studying in Denmark and Angola with Humana
People to People for fourteen months.
• 1999: The President of the Club was selected
as one of the 60 most successful young social entrepreneurs
in the world by 12 international donor agencies. He is now
a member of the Common Futures Forum and the Global
Meeting of the Generations. For the last two years, the Club’s
activities have been highlighted around the world as a successful model
for social change. Trips were made to Canada, Suriname, Colombia, South
Africa, England, Haiti, the Caribbean, Bangladesh, and United States,
etc., for training and speaking engagements.
• 1998: The Club’s activities are utilised
as a model for sustainable development by a number of organisations
such as CIDA,
Partners
in Rural Development (BCCP), CARICOM Youth Desk, Commonwealth
Youth Programme, Food for the Poor, Guyana Fund, British
High Commission, UNICEF,
Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs, Partners
of the Americas-Guyana/Mississippi.
• 1999/2000: The Club was able to secure the
Commonwealth Youth Service Award for the third time
and became the first organisation in the Commonwealth to gain a triple
honour.
• In 2001, the Club was accepted as an accredited
NGO to the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. This
accreditation affords the Club the opportunity of sending any four of
its members to all major international conferences of the United Nations,
and to benefit from UN activities.
• In 2001, the Club became a member of the World
Federation of UNESCO Club.
• In 2001, St. Francis was honoured by Ernest
and Young of Trinidad and Tobago with a certificate of achievement as
a nominee in the 2001 Caribbean Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.
The Club was honoured for its ingenuity, hard work and innovation to
create successful and growing business ventures.
• St. Francis was also honoured by the International
Year of Volunteers 2001- Guyana Committee for the organisation’s
outstanding voluntary service towards the social and economic development
of Guyana.
